Kingdom Quest: Unpacking Orange’s 2026 VBS Curriculum

Every summer, Vacation Bible School offers churches a concentrated opportunity for spiritual formation, outreach, and community connection. For 2026, Orange introduces Kingdom Quest, a VBS curriculum intentionally designed not just as a one-week program, but as a cohesive discipleship experience that can shape an entire summer of ministry.

Kingdom Quest is presented as a fully digital, customizable VBS built to help children explore what it means to follow Jesus and live as part of God’s Kingdom. Rather than standing alone, the program is structured to extend learning, relationships, and faith practices beyond VBS week.

The heart of the theme

At the center of Kingdom Quest is a clear theological emphasis: life with Jesus is life in God’s Kingdom. The curriculum frames faith as something children are invited to step into—learning who Jesus is, how He calls people, and how God works through His Spirit.

This Kingdom language is grounded in Jesus’ own teaching:

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33, NLT)

Rather than focusing on spectacle or competition, Kingdom Quest emphasizes identity, salvation, trust, transformation, and mission—key components of Christian discipleship communicated in age-appropriate ways.

A fully digital, all-in-one approach

Kingdom Quest is offered as a fully digital VBS kit, accessed through an online dashboard. All lesson content, planning tools, media, and resources are delivered digitally, allowing churches to customize and deploy materials based on their context.

The digital kit includes core planning and teaching resources such as a Director’s Guide, Leader Handbook, daily rotation materials, video content, original music, promotional assets, and editable files. These resources are designed to support preschool, elementary, and preteen age groups within a single unified framework.

In addition to VBS-specific content, Kingdom Quest includes two months of access to Orange Kids Curriculum and APlay, allowing churches to continue aligned teaching and engagement throughout the summer.

Program structure and daily flow

Kingdom Quest follows a consistent daily structure intended to support clarity, repetition, and multiple learning styles.

Each day is organized around three main segments:

Large Group Opening Session
Children gather for welcome, games, worship, drama, and the Bible story. This session introduces the day’s central theme and Scripture focus.

Small Group Rotation Stations
Kids rotate through small group discussion, games, snacks, music, and mission experiences. These stations reinforce the Bible story through hands-on activities and guided conversation.

Large Group Closing Session
The day concludes with worship, wrap-up, announcements, and dismissal, helping children revisit the main idea before they leave.

This structure allows key truths to be experienced, discussed, and reinforced multiple times throughout the day.

Digital and physical components

While Kingdom Quest is primarily digital, the curriculum also includes a themed physical sample box. This box provides tangible items—such as apparel, activity pieces, and themed accessories—intended to help leaders visualize the experience and build excitement as they prepare.

The physical kit is positioned as a supplement to the digital curriculum rather than a replacement, reinforcing Orange’s digital-first approach.

Extending VBS beyond one week

One of Kingdom Quest’s defining features is its summer-long strategy. By including aligned Sunday curriculum and digital tools, Orange positions VBS as the starting point for continued discipleship rather than a standalone event.

This reflects a long-term view of spiritual formation echoed throughout Scripture:

“Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love.” (Hosea 10:12, NLT)

The goal is continuity—helping kids, families, and volunteers remain connected to the themes and practices introduced during VBS.

Why Kingdom Quest matters

Kingdom Quest presents VBS as an integrated ministry experience: digitally accessible, adaptable to different church sizes, and designed to support both leaders and families. Its emphasis on Kingdom theology, combined with structured programming and extended curriculum access, reflects Orange’s broader philosophy of aligning church and home for lasting impact.

Rather than asking children simply to attend VBS, Kingdom Quest invites them to explore what it means to live as part of God’s Kingdom—during VBS week and throughout the summer that follows.
